The Sazanami Silk Camera Strap from Artisan & Artist, Tokyo Japan.
Details
Strap made using silk braids, cherished as a stylish accessory for traditional Japanese attire.
You can enjoy the delicate beauty unique to silk.
It is a sturdy yet gentle-to-the-skin piece crafted by a renowned Kyoto braiding shop. The strap is meticulously sewn by skilled artisans.
This braid uses a wide braid called “Sasanami-gumi”. The “sasanami pattern” is one of the representative designs of kimono, also known as the “Michinaga pattern” because it was a favorite design of Michinaga Fujiwara, a powerful court noble of the Heian period (794-1185). This traditional and distinctive sasanami pattern, which is used as a high-quality decoration for kimono, such as obijime, is used as a pattern for silk straps.
The leather and hand stitching used to secure the strap to the camera (root leather) are a simple all-black color to accentuate the unique strap design.
In addition to being comfortable against the skin as only silk can be, it is moderately stretchable and can be wrapped around the hand. It is a piece that combines ease of use and fashionable spirit.
This Silk strap is available in two lengths: this is the longer one suitable for wearing diagonally across the body.
*Please note that this is a ring-type strap for cameras with eyelets. It is not compatible with tape-type camera eyelets.
